The Annual Santa Barbara Club Members’ Art Exhibit
On June 23, 2023 members of the community and of the Santa Barbara Club were treated to a wonderful reception and presentation on the life & work of local artist Ralph Waterhouse. This year, the annual event featured Mr. Waterhouse and his story on how he began his career as a wildlife painter in England in 1973. Upon moving to the U.S., inspired by California landscape & its beautiful light, he then turned to “plein air” painting, and founding Waterhouse Gallery in 1989. His work is well known and highly sought by private collectors and includes commissions such as murals in the Union Bank (now U.S. Bank) building, Old Spanish Days poster(s), the Valley Club, Santa Barbara Club and others. Mr. Waterhouse has exhibited with Oil Painters of America, is a founding member of the Santa Barbara Art Dealers Association and current Chair of the California Art Club, Central Coast Chapter.
